Add a little fun in your life

Fun tip

Celebrate one day of the week, every week.
Every Sunday I stay in my most comfortable clothes and do whatever I didn’t have time for during the week. This includes reading magazines, watching tons of movies, and snuggling with my Mr. man. I also love to order Chinese, and divulge into some sort of baked good (cupcakes, cinnamon rolls, brownies). It’s pretty much my day and it is what keeps me sane during a busy week.

Links I loved this week

Avacadolite farm
A game a lot like be-jeweled but a whole lot cuter.
Skelliwag’s
20 ways to come up with Amazing Ideas.
Jim Bradshaw
Pretty cool artist, I like his monster drawings.

Honorable mentions

Where the wild things are- I am a huge fan of adorable monsters. This book has great illustration and brings out my own inner monster. (which happens to be an adorable one). I recently bought a copy. I plan on starting a collection of beautifully illustrated monster children’s books.Jazz Music- Frank Sinatra, Billie Holiday, Perry Como, Harry Connick Jr., Nat King Cole.. and many others. I love playing it during supper and while I am working on the web.

My Gratitude Journal- It’s leather bound and beautiful. I really enjoy reflecting on my day and pointing all the good things about it. Even if it may be something as simple as a good song you heard or a nice long shower.

My new friend- Comodo the lizard! He is the sweetest leopard Gecko around. I am not a huge fan of reptiles, but I am absolutely in love with him.

Cat’s Cradle By Kurt Vonnegut- My current read. I’m only 50 pages into it so far, but I am loving every piece of it. I am really getting into Kurt’s work.

My fabulously lazy winter

I have already decided this is going to be the winter for hibernation. This means going out for as little as possible, relaxing, and enjoying the first winter living with my boyfriend. Here are some of my plans.

Read- I plan to load up on books (from www.half.com) and get a whole lot of reading done. I have been reading mostly non fiction books lately, so I think I will stick more to fiction during the winter.

Write- This blog mostly, I really need to get it going. My plan is to write three a week, then write an extra to archive for when I’m too busy to post.

Cook- Comfort foods are what gets me through the cold season. I’m going to master mashed potatoes, chicken casserole, and homemade Macaroni and Cheese.

Study- I’ll be taking 4 college courses at night so I am positive that a good chunk of time will be spent in text books. I am also going to look into some topics I want to research on my own.

Computer- I would love to add more to this site. And I think I might convert over to linux? I know there is still a lot of things I need to learn, so winter would be a good time to spend away my time on the good old compy.

Movies- Rob and I are movie junkies, I would like to get through my never ending netflix list and also finish a few of my favorite TV series. (The Office, Six Feet Under, Nip Tuck)

In between all these there will be tons of cuddling, drawing, time spent with pets, magazine reading, dancing, emailing, letter writing, and online shopping. (thanks to x-mas)

What are you doing for wintertime?

5 ways to feel good again

Sorry everyone for being gone so long, I went through a hard week, and had no motivation to blog. Which made me decide to write about how to get motivation back when you are feeling like doggy poo.

The first, and most important step, is to forgive anyone that may have made you feel this way. (some of you this may not be the case) But if you are having a bad day because of something someone else has done, then forgiveness is needed. I make it the first step because it is by far the hardest. You don’t have to like the person, or even talk to them, just do what you can to get the angry feelings out. Check out this article by Agent Sully on Zen habits to learn how to let things be when you are upset. Or these 9 Steps to forgiveness.

Second step is to do whatever you can to keep your cool. Try Gala Darling’s guide to EFT That is where I first discovered it. I also like zenhabits article on 75 simple pleasures. Focus on little things you love that will lift your mood, even if only for five minutes. Visit Dumb little man’s how to kill your crabby mood.

PUSH YOURSELF! Force yourself off of the couch or out of bed and get going on what needs to be done. Having a huge list of chores/assignments/tasks that you skipped out on will only make you feel worse. Getting some fresh air will also do you a whole lot of good. Gala Darling wrote a wonderful article on motivation that may just help you out.

Write letters. This one helped me a whole lot. One time my boyfriend and I had a bit of trouble. I had been hurt, and he was hurt from hurting me. I know he made a mistake, but I couldnt help feeling mad/sad/angry. So instead of yelling or nagging at him, I wrote everything out in a series of letters. (one each day) It let him know where I was in the process of healing and also let him knew how much I loved him. Eventually the letters went from sad and hard to read to fun and bright. I even made him “A Beginners Guide to your Girlfriend” for a joke. It was a great way to show him what i need/want in the relationship. You also can write letters and not send them as a way to vent. Check out unsent letters.

Grow. Every time you get hurt/upset about something you have a chance to learn and grow as a person. We have all had our grandmas tell us “What doesn’t kill you only makes you stronger,” which is so true. Journal about your experiences. How will you handle things differently in the future? What have you learned about yourself and others? Are there some things you could change about yourself? The person who admits their wrongs and mistakes and aims to improve is invincible.

How to look at things differently

Quick tip: Remember to look at things differently everyday. It’s quite refreshing.

I found this lovely link to the Russian version of Winnie the Pooh in Krisatomic’s blog. (a favorite of mine)

so true…

“POPLAR TREE (the Uncertainty) – looks very decorative, not very self-confident, only courageous if necessary, needs goodwill and pleasant surroundings, very choosy, often lonely, great animosity, artistic nature, good organizer, tends to lean toward philosophy, reliable in any situation, takes partnership seriously.”

What tree did you fall from?
